Over the last few months, I worked as a guide at the Night Heron, my friend’s pop-up speakeasy in Chelsea. It was inside a water tower.

Hi. I'm John Timothy. I'm a writer/performer/improviser living in Brooklyn.

In response to our new Urban Forager vid, Central Park NYC tweets us this.
“probably”…
Wise words!
We are doing important work with our comedy.

I’m very lucky that I get to make videos with these people.
I love Horse+Horse.
Wait. I know for a fact that Kristy wasn’t at the Bettie awards. There’s some trickery going on here. DON’T TRUST THIS BETA TEAM.
What do you mean? Of course Kristy was at the Betties. Kristy was always at the Betties. Eurasia was not at the Betties. Eurasia was always not at the Betties.

A beautiful list.
Also, it’s written in the style of the Hulk, so, that’s fun.
johnztownsend asked: Wings of desire!
Honestly JZT, Wings of Desire is one of my favorite movies ever. I saw it the first time because a girl I had a crush on was in a “Portrayals of Love in Cinema” class and I would go with her to the screenings every week.
Yeah, I know.
Anyway, it was really one of the best classes I ever (didn’t) take. I saw that movie and loved it, saw Casablanca for the first time, and saw this great movie called Truly, Madly, Deeply where Alan Rickman plays a ghost haunting his ex girlfriend. It’s so sweet and sad. Kind of like Wings of Desire. Check it out!
I’ll make counter recommendations for any other Criterion recs I get.
So, the entire Criterion Collection is up on hulu this weekend. What should we watch?
oh HAY. Netflix likes our newest video (click on Netflix’s comment to watch!).

The Remarkably Thorough Harry Potter Character Test
McGonagall, seems pretty accurate to me.
[cut a few people’s results to keep the post a reasonable length]
I GOT VOLDEMORT OH GOD
(Polar opposite is Ron Weasley)
Not really surprised to get Hermione.
I got Dumbledore. Dumbledore is kind of Toby Zeigler + Hermione Granger, so I guess I buy it.
I got Molly Weasley… I’ll take it.
I’m Ginny Weasley?

This is from the Neo-Futurists’ show Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind. I went this past weekend and was reminded that during a previous visit I was brought onstage as part of one of the plays. You should check it out. It was sweet and nice and funny.
I was very disappointed that the camera had no film in it, but the fact that it was recorded seems like a fair trade.
PENNY: Hello?
DESMOND: Penny?
PENNY: Desmond?
DESMOND: Penny…Penny, you answered. You answered, Penny.
[In London, Penelope is at home standing by a Christmas tree.]
PENNY: Des, where are you?
DESMOND: I’m…I’m, I’m on a boat. Um…I’ve been on an island, and — Oh my god, Penny. Is that really you?
PENNY: Yeah! Yes, it’s me!
DESMOND: You believe me? You still care about me?
PENNY: Des, I’ve been looking for you for the past three years. I know about the island. I’ve been researching—-[static]—-and then when I spoke to your friend Charlie, that’s when I knew you were still alive. That’s when I knew I wasn’t crazy. Des, are you still there!?
DESMOND: Yes, yes, I’m here! I’m still here, can you hear me?
PENNY: Yeah, yeah, that’s better.
DESMOND: I love you, Penny. I’ve always loved you. I’m so sorry. I love you.
PENNY: I love you too.
DESMOND: I don’t know where I am, but—
PENNY: I’ll find you, Des—
DESMOND: —I promise—
PENNY: —no matter what—
DESMOND: —I’ll come back to you—
PENNY: —I won’t give up—
BOTH: I promise. I love you.
[Static cuts them off.]
SAYID: I’m sorry. The power source went dead, it’s all we have.
[Desmond walks toward Sayid, his memory of him and his time on the island returning.]
DESMOND: Thank you, Sayid. [They shake hands] It was enough.
SAYID: Are you alright now?
DESMOND: Aye. I’m perfect.
